Portland, OR 97214

Dear Mr. Nelson:

This refers to our meeting wherein we discussed the use of applications on the Oregon Division.

CMS Director C. W. Dent, III advised that there was some confusion when employes had more than one application on file and were assigned to a position as a result of one of their applications. The confusion comes as a result of the question of whether once assigned, are other applications still active?

In discussing this, we agreed that applications were similar to bulletins and that employes usually put in several in hopes of being assigned to the best available. Once assigned, they do not expect to be assigned to another position shortly thereafter.

Therefore, it was agreed that once an employe is assigned pursuant to an application, all other applications on file should be deleted and employes must submit new applications if they wish to be considered for other assignments. Please indicate your acceptance of this interpretation by signing below and returning one copy to this office.

Yours truly,
/s/ W. S. Hinckley
Director Labor Relations
