and

UNITED TRANSPORTATION UNION (C&T)

FILLING TEMPORARY VACANCIES IN

POOL AND ASSIGNED FREIGHT SERVICE -- 10TH DISTRICT - SALINA

Rules 44 and 45 are modified for the 10th Seniority District at Salina as follows:

Item 45(a) dated April 1, 1968, Item 45(b) dated December 12, 1958, and Rule 45(b), paragraph 3, are modified as follows:

"If no applicants for brakeman's pool freight hold down (temporary vacancy), it will remain unassigned and protected by the Brakemen's Extra Board until an application is received.
The senior extra brakeman will not be forced to such vacancy."

Rule 45(c) is modified as follows:

"Conductors and brakemen assigned under this rule will remain on vacancies until displaced in
accordance with schedule rules. Extra brakemen displaced from hold downs (temporary vacancies) in pool freight service may displace on other hold downs in either pool freight or assigned freight service or return to or place on the Brakemen's Extra Board. Such brakeman will loose displacement on existing hold downs (temporary vacancies) if he returns to the Brakemen's Extra Board."

Rule 44(a)(2) is modified as follows:

"Extra conductors may work the vacancy of an assigned freight position under bulletin as a
hold down (temporary vacancy) after the bulletin has been issued."

This agreement is effective November 21, 1984, and shall automatically terminate ten (10) days from the date of written notice by either party.
